Brooke M. Govert, Founder of KPS (Criminal Defense Guru)
Brooke Govert is a Managing Paralegal with over 20 years of experience in the legal field. She offers a variety of services, including legal support, administration support and social media support to help you reach your business goals. After graduating, she worked at a large personal injury firm in Knoxville, handling litigation support for two partners and gaining knowledge in family law and bankruptcy. She then worked as a litigation paralegal in Austin,Texas, specializing in worker’s compensation at Burns, Anderson, Jury, and Brenner, L.L.P.
Returning to Knoxville, she worked at a criminal defense firm from 2013 to 2018, providing support for cases in several counties. Seeking flexibility, she founded Knoxville Paralegal Services. Her expertise includes criminal law, personal injury, civil litigation, family law, bankruptcy, and worker’s compensation.
Brooke has an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies from Pellissippi State and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Park University.
In her spare time, she enjoys being with her husband (a Marine veteran), her daughter (a brainiac in the science lab community), her mother (battling colon cancer), photography, traveling, and playing tennis: including attending her daughter’s collegiate matches and competing herself.
Bella Nicodeme,
(Admin + Software Guru)
Isabella Nicodeme is a first-generation college graduate and proud alumna of the University of South Florida (USF), where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Legal Studies with the highest honors.
During her time at USF, Isabella gained hands-on legal experience as an intern at the State Attorney’s Office and as an Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President. She also served as a Research Fellow at the Florida Council of 100, where she developed a public policy proposal on the future of water for Floridians, deepening her passion for public policy and legal advocacy.
In addition to her policy work, Isabella has worked as a Legal Assistant at a securities litigation law firm, where she gained experience in complex financial disputes. She has also shadowed family law attorneys, further strengthening her understanding of legal practice. Through these experiences, she has developed particular skills in criminal law, securities litigation, and family law.
Isabella will begin her Juris Doctor studies at Florida International University College of Law in the fall of 2025. She is committed to using her legal education and policy experience to advocate for underserved communities and contribute to meaningful policymaking that benefits all Floridians.
In her spare time, Isabella enjoys playing golf, reading romance novels, and sipping iced lattes. She feels most at home by the beach, where she finds inspiration in the ocean’s tranquility.
Paula Hemphill, Freelance Paralegal (Personal Injury+Estate Planning + Probate)
Paula’s experience is extensive in Personal Injury, Worker’s Compensation, Social Security Disability, Estate Planning, and Probate.
Paula has been a paralegal for 15+ years-playing the part of office manager in the most recent firm she worked in full time. Going freelance has been a dream of hers and she loves helping attorneys stay organized and on task.
She was born and raised in New England and is still a die-hard New England Sports fan-- even if she resides in Nashville now. Those Titans are looking very Patriot-esque lately and she is there for it!
In her spare time, Paula loves to travel and see new places, experience new foods, and revel in the majesty that is the great outdoors. She will take a body of water or a mountain over a city any day! You can find her kayaking on the lake at least once a week soaking in the peace of the water and wildlife. It's her happy place!
Sarah Young, CPA/Virtual CFO
Sarah’s experience is strictly in Virtual CFO + Tax Assistance.
Sarah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina. She is also a Certified Public Accountant, Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, and GUSTO People Advisor Certified.

Charles’ experience is extensive in Estate Planning and Real Estate law.
Charles holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Baylor Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Baylor University. Over the last 42 years, he has acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience in various areas of law, including estate planning and probate, real estate transactions, banking regulations, securities law, and regulatory compliance. More recently, he has happily remarried and made the move to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he takes great pleasure in leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience to assist attorneys while working virtually from the comfort of his own home.
In his spare time, he genuinely enjoys spending quality time with his wife as they explore the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. Additionally, he finds great satisfaction in gardening, immersing himself in novels, refinishing vintage furniture, writing insightful blog posts, and occasionally attempting to improve his swing while trying to hit a golf ball on the driving range.
Misty Redner, Freelance Paralegal (Immigration Law)
Misty’s experience is extensive in Immigration Law.
Misty has been a paralegal for 6 + years supporting attorneys in the immigration field.
Misty is originally from Texas and only relocated to the East Coast in 2021; along with her husband and children. She has worked for a global law firm handling the top tier clients as an Immigration Paralegal and over the last few years she has worked for one of the nation's leading firms for corporate finance and restructuring, litigation, and project finance handling immigration from the Human Resources standpoint. Misty is highly organized, and detail-oriented and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. She has a strong background in legal research and analysis. In her time in immigration, Misty has worked with a wide variety of clients including autonomous vehicles, civil engineering, grocery stores, and healthcare systems. Her expertise has been mainly focused on Business Immigration matters but she has also worked on Family based matters over the last 3 years. She has utilized her medical background to address complex medical-based petitions as well as building trusting lasting relationships with her clients and their employees.
She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies from Central Texas College with a coinciding Paralegal Certificate. She is currently enrolled at Texas A&M to complete her Bachelor's degree.

Wimberly currently resides in Brunswick, Georgia, where she enjoys actively contributing to the local legal community while effectively balancing her important role as a dedicated homemaker.

Elizabeth Nicklas, Freelance Paralegal

She has lived most of her life in Nashville, Tennessee, where she has strong family connections to East Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Nashville School of Law, a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Middle Tennessee State University, and an Associate’s degree in General Studies, focusing on English, from Nashville State Community College. Recently, she passed the Tennessee bar exam to become a licensed attorney in Tennessee.
After dedicating 2 ½ years to working as a special education teacher, followed by an additional year as a general education teacher, Elizabeth gracefully transitioned into her career within the legal field more than 8 years ago, initially focusing on personal injury law. During this time, she has accumulated extensive experience and a wealth of knowledge in personal injury law, while also broadening her expertise to include criminal law, family law, juvenile law, and immigration law, with a notable specialization in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases across various jurisdictions throughout Tennessee. Additionally, Elizabeth possesses significant experience in office management, which includes implementing case management software systems, creating firm templates, managing accounts receivable, and maintaining a high level of proficiency in client communication.
Moreover, Elizabeth is well-versed in the Tennessee and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and she excels at conducting thorough legal research, analyzing case law, and drafting and editing court documents with precision and clarity.
In her spare time and when Elizabeth is not busy spending quality time with her husband, children, and their 13-year-old rescue dog, she is furthering her knowledge and skills in the legal field.
